The Weakness Question

Many schools and hiring managers will ask about your weaknesses because they want to gauge your EQ. Low EQ people try to avoid confronting their weaknesses. When asked about their weaknesses, they will often offer a “decoy” weakness – something that isn’t really a weakness. Because they avoid confronting their weaknesses, low EQ people have difficulty overcoming those weaknesses and will tend to do poorly in both leadership and life, so business schools and hiring managers try to avoid them. High EQ people can confront their own weaknesses boldly, overcome them, adapt and grow. These high EQ people tend to be very successful in leadership and life, so business schools and hiring managers seek the out.
